Re: amazing anti-spin work guys! |
|
Cheers Meg I had this in mind since Play festival, I had to draw and write somthing about it before it explose inside my head .
Hope the english version is not full of mistakes I mean more than the french one.
I'm trying now antispin with two staffs like Olive, we've found some good tricks to play with quite stimulating for the brain. and keep practicing 5, 7 and 9 branches stars I wish I could find good traditionnal music with this beats to get synchronised and make a short video.
 |
 |
One thing I have been playing with is to do half a circle (with your arm) anti-spin and the other half as a isolation of one end of the staff. But you reverse the direction of the staff so that your arm continues on it's circle. You can do a lot with this sort of thing. |
I think I see what you mean, is it the (greeeeat) trick you do on the video "play-doubles" at 1'00 ?? anyway, I got this one and it's so pleasant to do !! THANK YOU !!!!
Olive, Gé, Talaron, I couldn't take the time to read properly all your ideas you know why ... But I'm still full of antispin I'll be back in few weeks !!!

very nice!
feels much better for the hand...
I made a 3d animation with it, but I have trouble with my webspace. anyone can help? (620kb)
sascha is working on a strange project: she plays antispin with small double sticks. one rotation inverted, the next normal. no fingerspins...
@mcp: can I download "play-doubles"?

@ge, yes of course you can download it...? It's in the video resources section of here: http://meghan.tepookatoys.com - I have lots of webspace... if ya need some...
That was simians idea for the rotation reverse. I think there is a lot to be done with it thou. There is so much possibility when you start to consider the staffs center of rotation, and so much more when you decide to make pretty pictures too...

so to say it quicker, and according to your animation:
- move the middle of the staff on a triangle,
- one revolution of the staff by triangle side
|
not a full rotation but 240°. this makes 720° (2 rots) all in all...
 |
 |
next question:
There is a relation between the two latter, isn't it? At least to have a good looking geometrical pattern.
I mean, I guess the overall pattern wouldn't look as good, if these two speeds are not in proportional relation to each others'
|
they are nearly same, but the size of the triangle is variated.
 |
 |
it's easier to explain this in the Real world |
I´m on your boat!

thanks mcp, that brings fun...
the whole figur 45° rotated lookes more symmetric.
if I imagine the circle of the hand, I can seperate this circle in 4 quarters. 2 for the isolated phase and 2 for the antspin-phase
it´s fun play with the size of these "quarters" > long isolation, short antispin f.e.
with doubles, if one arm plays the figur 90° rotated you get a 4 leaf clover (and some luck o course!)

Loads of combos in sight
Nice one again Gé, impressive animation

Wow, THat is KICK ASS! I've been trying to do that for ages, but horizontally, I like this way much better, and plus, it might actually work!
Is there a non-anti-spin version too?
and what does it look like with the sticks seperated?
And with them at 3/4 points?
and and and and....

@ clifford: it is possible. but (as a fake) it has to be played very accurate to make it look like a butterfly.
start with both staffs together paralell on the wall plane, with both thumb-ends pointing in the same direction.
then you start to move your hands in a circle.
the next time the staffs a paralell, the thumb-end of the one staff is pointing in the same direction as the pinky-end of the other. at this moment both staffs change the direction.
allways change the direction, when staffs are paralell...
you don´t even need fingerspins for that.
I made a video with it, which will come soon on feuershow.de...
@mcp: both staffs change the direction, so I´ve got no idea to avoid antispin.
I hade some ideas about hyperspins, and antispin with the hand making more rotations than the staff:

http://www.firedancer.de/zbcms/content_download/misk/hyperspin.WMV
http://www.firedancer.de/zbcms/content_download/misk/hyperspin_antispin.WMV
sorry for the strange format, I made the animations on my notebook and had nothing else but the microsoft-moviemaker ;(
regards,
gé

the first number at the beginning of each row is the ammount of rotations the hand makes in relation to the (2nd) number of rotations of the head.
in the figurs to the left "the sive of the figur of the hand" is bigger in relation to "the lenght of the poi/staff" than in the figurs on the right side...
